The Green Office reflects our commitment to innovative, sustainable design, blending natural elements with modern comfort to create an inspiring workspace. The client, an avid art collector, envisioned an office that would showcase his artworks while also offering a tranquil garden for client meetings and peaceful morning coffee. The goal was for the art to bring vibrant colour, with the interiors providing a subtle, supportive backdrop. The result is a calm, cohesive environment that balances art, nature, and refined personal taste.
The design language of the Green Office can be described as “Organic Modernism,” inspired by the intricate structure of a bird’s nest. This approach blends natural warmth with contemporary ease, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Rich wood veneers, smooth timber, and earthy textures mirror the hues of nature, evoking the comfort and coziness of a nest. These materials are carefully integrated throughout the space, fostering a serene, welcoming atmosphere that encourages focus, creativity, and a deep sense of connection to the natural world.
At the heart of the design is the attached outdoor terrace garden, symbolizing the tree that supports and nurtures the nest. This green sanctuary offers a calm retreat from the urban setting, enriching both the aesthetic and functional quality of the office. It becomes a natural extension of the interior, promoting well-being, focus, and productivity. Organic Modernism comes to life here, where nature and contemporary design merge to create a seamless, tranquil workspace.
To evoke an art gallery experience, we designed a passage that introduces a sense of journey and subtle mystery. The walls along this corridor display artworks, making them an integral part of the arrival sequence. As one moves through, the space gradually opens up, revealing the full office and culminating in a view of the outdoor garden. This spatial narrative amplifies the presence of the client’s art collection and enhances the overall experience.
The main cabin is strategically positioned to open on both sides. One end overlooks the workspace, creating a sense of connection and transparency, while the other frames a garden view through a circular window. This window blurs the boundary between inside and outside, reinforcing one of the core ideas behind the design. By using the passage to build anticipation and then revealing the open office and garden, we created a dynamic, fluid experience. The location of the main cabin and the use of the circular window were deliberate decisions that strengthen the visual and sensory link to nature, making the workspace calm, inspiring, and grounded.
The project’s biggest challenge was its terrace location, exposed to Delhi’s intense heat. To counter this, we used PUFF sheets on the terrace floor roof, adding multiple layers of insulation that reduced indoor temperatures by 10–15°C. Greenery played an equally important role, helping create a natural breeze that further cools the environment. The terrace garden acts as a green sanctuary—both visually pleasing and functionally effective—supporting natural cooling while enhancing comfort. By combining smart material choices with thoughtful landscaping, the space maintains a pleasant, inviting atmosphere despite the demanding climate.
In conclusion, the Green Office demonstrates how thoughtful design can strike a balance between functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability. Through the lens of Organic Modernism, the space blends natural elements with modern amenities to create a serene and inspiring workplace. The climate-responsive strategies highlight our commitment to comfort and environmental responsibility. More than just an office, the Green Office stands as a testament to the harmonious coexistence of art, nature, and contemporary design—offering a peaceful, productive sanctuary within the urban landscape.
